Jayne X Praxis

The answer to the question "Who is Jayne X Praxis?" has taken me 30 years to discover. The main thing I've learned is that I'll continue to discover and understand who I am for the next 30 and more years. However, I can tell you some of what I've learned so far, especially about my practice as a therapist and my dedication to my own healing and to helping others heal when I can. 

 I'm a pansexual non-binary transwoman who has been an educator, activist, and advocate in the Louisville LGBTQ+ community since I came out in 1991. I'm polyamorous, kink affirming, and a practicing Witch. I would love to work with folx who wish to make their non-mainstream spirituality part of therapy. I find astrology, Tarot, and ritual to be powerful tools in helping us understand ourselves and to give us a common language to talk about healing, growth, vision, intention and values, among  other things. It's my goal to provide a safe and affirming space for these ideas, beliefs and practices. Spirituality, or whatever you call it, is an undeniably essential part of our identity and needs to be a part of the process of healing and transformation that therapy provides. 

I'm also committed to creating a space for clients to talk about their gender and sexuality, regardless of their orientation. These are also essential aspects of our Selves and as such inform every aspect of our life to some extent, especially how we relate to others. Most importantly, they are ways in which we relate to our own bodies, a relationship that is impacted by our mental health and can be an important part of the healing process, regardless of whether or not we have specific sexual traumas.

I'm an LCSW with 14 years of experience. I provide individual therapy to adults (18+). I specialize in treating trauma and LGBTQ+ issues. as well as mood disorders, life transitions, AD/HD, adjustment disorders, and grief. I'm available for in-person and telehealth in the state of Kentucky.
